Find out who I am on my website at www.kathheth.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk. I will be 74 in August 2012. I put my feet up occasionally after I've done a lot of walking but I continue to lead an active life doing what I want when I want. My daughter, Lynn, and I are bosom buddies enjoying each other's company on outings and shopping trips. Walking along the beach is heavy going on feet and legs but a stroll along the bank top fills in a pleasant afternoon. I haven't done much photography since I photographed some famous ships as they sailed into, or out of, the mouth of the Tyne. However, not all of those shown here were taken by me including the latest one of the Swan Hunter dock and cranes being shipped out to India. I have updated my family news section to include details of how I recently became a widow. And also how losing her Dad has affected Lynn. Hopefully, I will continue to update my blog frequently from now on.

Major events in 2007

I will be 69 in August, Jack is 70 on 12th March and our 45th wedding anniversary is on 31st March. Our sons have made their own lives independently of us. But our daughter, Lynn, whose learning difficulties stand in the way of her becoming totally independent still needs us to be there for her. I am now more conscious than ever of how time flies and the older we get the faster it goes. Our support of Lynn must continue in the form of preparing her for the inevitable event of our death. (Although my ambition is to live to be 100). Lynn will be 38 in November and shows that she can manage without us when it comes to practical daily living, even managing better in areas where our age puts limits on what we can do. Her biggest problem without her Dad and me will be the lack of our love and emotional support.

All in all we think it is now time to make provision for her future without us. To this end we will be seeing a solicitor on 16th March to make a will outlining Lynn's needs and requirements, what is to be expected of her brothers and how our possessions are to be shared out. Once this is done I, for one, will then have peace of mind.

Bring it on! There's still a lot of living to do.

PC Probs.

The consensus of opinion from people I asked and Internet advice sites about my pc problems was that Norton Firewall was blocking access to Outlook Express and my Blueyonder Hetherington family web site. I discovered that there was no reason for two firewalls running in conjunction and they may even be in conflict with each other. As Windows Firewall was also enabled I had to decide which one to close down. After much inner conflict I gritted my teeth and uninstalled Norton. Nothing terrible happened but Outlook still didn't perform correctly so I deleted it. This move was not popular with Jack who had made it his own and didn't want to share Hotmail with me using my name. We solved the matter easily by registering him with Yahoo which he now likes using. My web site is now accessible again for editing purposes.

Nothing is ever straightforward however. We can never be complacent. Soon our blogs are to be updated. I will just wait for the changes to happen in due course and save myself more headaches by trying to jump the queue.
